May 2026: Celebrations, Transformations and New Contacts

April was marked by the WCB annual Lunch and Dinner, Andy Baker's retirement, the 50th anniversary of the institution, the baptism of Marjorie, and a touching message from Erick, an 11-year-old listener from Spain.

May 2026: Celebrations, Transformations and New Contacts

A Month of Great Emotions and Significant Challenges

Our month of April was marked by great emotions and significant challenges. We held our fundraising Lunch and Dinner, and God blessed us greatly. I want to thank everyone who was involved, directly or indirectly, in making this event possible. Thank you very much to everyone.

We want to express our gratitude to everyone who, annually or even monthly, has believed in the mission of WCB and has blessed us with offerings and donations. Praise be to God!

    Leadership Change at WCB

During the event, we had the official announcement that Andy Baker, President of WCB, is retiring, and our Executive VP, Bryan Basham, will be taking his place.

Andy served as president for the last 8 years, always with dedication and love for the work of Christ. I would like to take this opportunity to share in our WGO the short text I wrote about Andy Baker, published in our annual newsletter:

"I met Andy Baker in 2018, and from our very first contact, I could see his great love for God, as well as his genuine interest in sharing the message of Christ with people. To be with Andy is to experience that love, because Andy reflects through his life what Jesus taught us in Matthew 22:37: _'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'_ Andy demonstrates this love with his whole being. God bless him!"
On May 16th, we will also celebrate Andy Baker's birthday. Therefore, we wish him a Happy Birthday and pray that God grants him many years of life and health!

50th Anniversary of World Christian Broadcasting

Another moment celebrated at our annual Lunch and Dinner was the 50th Anniversary of World Christian Broadcasting as an institution β€” a milestone in our history.

πŸ’‘ Reflection: Fifty years proclaiming the Word to the world. What began with faith and vision continues, by God's grace, crossing continents and touching hearts.

    Happy Anniversary, WCB!

    A New Life in Christ

Another reason for celebration during April was another soul who surrendered to Christ. During our last end-of-year trip, we began a conversation with Marjorie, my sister-in-law, and she showed interest in the Word of God.

After conversations with our brother Alan Nalley regarding her interest in having a congregation in her city β€” which is located in northwest ParanΓ‘, southern Brazil β€” Alan paid a visit, and they held a service at the home of one of the brothers. After discussions and a time of study, she decided to be baptized and become part of the family of Christ.

Praise God for the power of the Word of Christ that transforms lives and causes hearts to be converted. Thank you to Alan and his wife, Ree, who spared no effort and involved themselves wholeheartedly with this family.

    International Contacts

We continue to receive various contacts from Brazil and around the world, and I want to highlight a message from a teenager named Erick who lives in Spain. He said:

"Dear friends of Palavra Alegre, my name is Erik and I am 11 years old. I love listening to your broadcasts, even without understanding them! My father loves radio, so he told me about Radio and I was like 'Wow!', so now I like it too. Today, April 23, 2026, I would like to share my reception report with you. I would like to tell you a little about myself. As I mentioned, I am 11 years old and I love collecting QSLs, postcards, postage stamps from other countries, and bookmarks. Therefore, I would like you to send me some of them: just one QSL, one postcard, and some postage stamps from your country. If possible, I would also like to receive some lost items that someone might want or old QSLs! Here is my reception report. Thank you very much."
πŸ’‘ Reflection: At just 11 years old, Erick already understands that radio connects worlds. May that seed, planted by his father's enthusiasm, grow into something even greater.

    Happy Mother's Day!

Finally, on the second Sunday of May, just as in the United States, we celebrate Mother's Day. I want to congratulate all the mothers on this important day!

God bless each and every one of you!
